Resumo
As habilidades de vocabulário dos alunos avançados de inglês, palavra por palavra, representam um profundo obstáculo para a autoarticulação social, acadêmica ou outra, e com fluência. Essas lacunas no vocabulário prejudicam gravemente a comunicação eficaz, resultando simultaneamente em uma compreensão paradoxal da comunicação. Este estudo, portanto, busca estabelecer até que ponto a falta de habilidades de vocabulário afeta as habilidades orais e descobrir os fatores que constituem as lacunas nas habilidades comunicativas. Este estudo coletou propositadamente dados quantitativos de alunos da 5ª série da Unidade Educacional Privada Santa Ana e empregou entrevistas semiestruturadas para coletar dados qualitativos de professores. Os professores deram algumas respostas que lhes permitiram entender os problemas de comunicação existentes em sala de aula. O objetivo do estudo foi entender como os problemas de vocabulário são proporcionais ao fato de os alunos não conseguirem se expressar de forma articulada nas discussões desejadas. Olhar de ambos os lados ajuda a entender a situação como um todo. Isso ajudou a entender até que ponto a articulação e a expressão oral eram inibidas devido a grandes lacunas no vocabulário.
