Resumo

Algumas memórias são cultivadas mais ativamente do que outras, manifestando os teatros obsessivos e escorregadios de histórias contestadas. Isso pode nos incentivar a explorar as maneiras pelas quais as representações do passado são transmitidas. Embora a conscientização sobre o Holocausto tenha aumentado em todo o mundo, sua presença na academia turca tem sido limitada desde o milênio. Os estudos recentes enquadram predominantemente como a Turquia integra o Holocausto nas narrativas estabelecidas. No entanto, a percepção pública foi moldada por relatos de consulados turcos que salvaram inúmeros judeus turcos da opressão nazista. Esse tema predominante dos salvadores tornou-se a pedra angular da memória do Holocausto, reforçado por várias publicações e documentários. Esta pesquisa estuda principalmente a política restritiva de fronteiras da Turquia e as atividades de resgate da migração judaica durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial e suas memórias atuais na Turquia de hoje. Por meio de uma análise detalhada do caso, o estudo argumenta que as crenças históricas populares diferem dos fatos. Em última análise, ele lê essas narrativas em relação à necropolítica que dita quais memórias podem viver e quais são eliminadas, enfatizando como, mesmo na memória, há uma política de vida e morte.
