Resumen

El trabajo colaborativo es ampliamente utilizado en las clases de inglés; sin embargo, los estudiantes no siempre participan activamente ni utilizan la lengua meta durante las actividades grupales. Esta investigación examinó la influencia de dos estrategias de aprendizaje cooperativo, Numbered Heads Together y Jigsaw, en el trabajo grupal, las percepciones de los estudiantes y la dinámica de grupo en la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera (EFL) en cuarto año de educación básica en Ecuador. El estudio empleó un diseño mixto convergente paralelo con la participación de 78 estudiantes de una escuela primaria. Los datos se recopilaron mediante una encuesta a los estudiantes y observaciones de clase realizadas durante la implementación de ambas estrategias. Los resultados mostraron que, en general, los estudiantes se beneficiaron del aprendizaje cooperativo, ya que este favoreció su participación, les permitió apoyarse entre compañeros y contribuyó a generar clases más dinámicas y agradables. Las observaciones también evidenciaron que ambas estrategias promovieron una participación activa y una organización adecuada del trabajo grupal. Sin embargo, durante la implementación de Jigsaw, se observó un menor uso del inglés, lo que sugiere que las mayores demandas comunicativas de esta estrategia podrían requerir un mayor apoyo lingüístico. Estos hallazgos resaltan la utilidad del aprendizaje cooperativo cuando se implementa de manera estructurada en las aulas de inglés de educación primaria. Asimismo, destacan la importancia de acompañar las actividades colaborativas con un andamiaje lingüístico adecuado para promover un uso más significativo de la lengua meta.
